“I am not what you think I am; you are what you think I am.”
“I am not what you think I am…” Up to this point, I fully agree — there are no doubts here.
“You are what you think I am.” This part still confuses me a bit. I see people making cruel remarks about things I can’t even imagine myself doing. I also see people doing kind acts that shine in my eyes, which I also can’t imagine myself doing. How can I be these people? How can I be the whole variety of people I see?
At the same time, I know there are many within me — a very large variety. Some can barely move because they are weak, malnourished; others are strong and well-fed. The weak ones try to fight but are overwhelmed by the stronger ones. The strong ones fight among themselves to sit on the throne and command this body. Many times I win (I believe), sometimes another version of me wins. I believe this struggle may be eternal.
Could one of these weak and malnourished selves be the cruel person? And another be the kind one I see out there?
